James Sterling, Ph.D.

You may think Jim goes to sleep at night dreaming of lab automation, but in his spare time he actually masquerades as an Ultimate Frisbee throwing machine. When someone tells him that Ultimate Frisbee is not a real sport, his response is: "When a ball dreams, it dreams it's a Frisbee!" While this is his hobby, lab automation is his passion. As his passion for ALA further develops, he encourages others to get involved, and has personally ensured that 142 KGI students thus far have attended LabAutomation short courses and meetings. His principal research efforts include Microfluidics and Bioanalytical engineering and he approaches them in the same aggressive context as his dear Frisbee.
